I know there are a lot of people out there that are smarter than me, and since I'm always looking for a good deal, I need some help/advice.
Abbie is getting baptized in October and I need to start thinking about finding a confirmation dress. I was wanting to be a rebel and NOT get white. (My dress was a trendy gray/red drop waist number that was oh so 80's). I wonder, who started this white thing? When each of my kids have been blessed they have been in color. Dylan was pale yellow, Scott was in light blue, and Abbie was the most normal in ivory. It is my little way of being rebellious. I was asking Abbie one day if she wanted the usual white, or something colorful. She said she most definitely wants white. Dang. Now I have to find something that doesn't look like a polygamist that is also budget friendly. That is where I need help. Does anyone in blog land know of a great, cheapish place to get dresses? I would love some guidance in the right direction!

I can't remember what I wore - I only have a picture pre-baptism. I have heard twice this last month of moms finding nice, like new white dresses at DI - makes sense since they are only worn briefly. My issue with the DI is the sifting you have to do to find what you are looking for(and the smell)...sorry not more help - good luck!
True, who did start the white dress thing? My kids each have their own blessing dress, but we have one baptism dress that gets passed on to each girl when she gets baptized. I think I bought it in the mall somewhere. Seeing that it's the end of summer, you might be able to find a cute white sundress and then add a pretty sweater. You could even do "gasp" a colorful sweater.
I just saw the cutest white dress at the Down East discount store. They had a size 8 and I almost got it anyway even though Emery would be too big for it. Dang. It wasn't fancy, but it was cute, trendy and would look great with a cardigan or something. My baptism dress was blue. I don't think there's anything wrong with color at all. Give me a call if you want to know where that store is. It is in SLC and everything is super cheap because it is where they sell their samples, out of season stuff, etc. I think their kid dresses are 2/$10. Good luck!
