Oh Ya, There's Pockets

Dylan is now almost 9 and in the third grade. Since the 1st grade he has been BEGGING me for a cell phone. I told him, "no way", not until he was 13 and had an actual reason to need a cell phone. He kept begging on and off for awhile, I finally compromised and told him when he was 10 I would consider it. That was all he needed and the begging totally stopped. Flash forward to this last Christmas, Santa brought him an awesome prepaid cell phone(so he can't go texting crazy) complete with camera, games and everything he had wished for. It was genius cause he had not asked for one for awhile and was totally surprised by the gift. He has loved that thing and has fun texting cousins and friends.

Then yesterday came. I was going about my day doing my usual chores when I put in my usual Friday load of wash. Everything was great until I had a horrible thought come to mind. What if his phone was in his pocket? I ran down the stairs to check and pulled out a pair of jeans that had a water logged cell phone inside the pocket. I seriously almost cried, I felt soooooooooo bad! We went straight to Walmart after school to get a replacement (who knew Santa shopped at Walmart?) They were totally sold out of his phone, I then criss crossed the valley going to 2 other Walmarts. They were all out too. It was so frustrating! So now we wait for Walmart to re-stock. I still feel horrible, and realized I'm not as good at doing the laundry as I thought I was.

There's supposed to be a way to dry it out by putting it in a bowl of rice. I have many people say it works. (I don't know the specifics so you might want to google it). Or try taking the battery out and putting everything on top of your dvd player (where it's nice and warm) for a couple of days. I've heard that works too. Christian's wife Carlo washed her ipod and was able to bring it back to life, give her a call. Good luck!

Hey, I think you're a pretty awesome mom for even feeling bad about it. I figure, if they leave it in their pockets, it's their own fault.
