Abbie Kriss

This has been a way busy past few weeks for Abbie. The end of school always brings programs, awards, etc. I feel like I have been to school every day lately. I am so proud of her. She earned the "Chief Example to Others" award (CEO for short). Every teacher picks one kid from their class and Abbie was awesome enough to get picked. She was so excited and so was I. Its one thing to have a child do well with their studies, but I think its just as important to be a good kid in class. This is what her teacher wrote about her. "Abbie is a pleasant, cooperative, and alert first grader who completes her work quietly, quickly, and accurately. She loves to sing and cheer people up when they are sad." Emphasis on the loving to sing part. The first grade recently had a talent show and she sang (acapella) Taylor Swift's "You Were Meant For Me". She sang the WHOLE thing in front of a bunch of people. I can't believe the guts she has, she definitely didn't get it from me. Unfortunately, I didn't get a video of it, but it was awesome!
Then it was on to the first grade program, "Once Upon A Lillypad." She was a firefly, my favorite girl part in the program. They had 4 showings of the program and by the last one her voice was totally gone. She just squeaked out her lines the best she could. All that singing at school and at home caught up to her! She also had her spring dance recital last night. I didn't get a picture cause my stupid camera was full of pictures-dumb me. She had a poodle skirt costume and shook her booty to "Rock around the clock." She claims this will be her last recital FOREVER. She says she is done with dance and just wants to sit on the couch on Wednesdays. Yes, she is naturally a lazy child. I can assure the world that she won't just be sitting on the couch, I will make her do something and then hopefully she'll miss dance and never want to quit again. (C'mon, when I had her, I couldn't wait for the lessons, costumes, makeup, and recitals. She can't do this to me!)
