I Spoke Too Soon

My poor Abbie. She was doing so well recovering from her tonsillectomy that I thought it was such smooth sailing. Piece of cake, I thought. Well, I thought wrong. We spent a good portion of Friday night in the ER. She got dehydrated from vomiting non stop that day. She couldn't keep anything down. Not even water. It was so sad. I remember being sick as a child and my mom would always say she wished she was the one that was sick and not me. At the time, I thought she was crazy. Now I understand totally what she meant. I took the above picture after the 1st IV ran out. She looks almost normal. Before I got her to the ER she looked like a walking corpse, and I'm not even exaggerating. Her eyes were black and sunken clear back in her head. Her cheeks were also sunken in. Her face was so small that her teeth looked H-U-G-E. Who knew being dehydrated could make a person look so lifeless. Jesse was so freaked out by the way she looked, neither one of us can get that image out of our head. Thankfully, once she got 2 IV's in her and some anti-nausea medicine, she was back to normal. I was so grateful to see my big eyed daughter again, words can't even describe the feeling. Since Friday she is slowly getting back to normal. She has been so wore out, that she still just lays around, but at least isn't feeling sick and vomiting. I kept her home from church today to rest in hopes that she will be good enough to go to school tomorrow. She ADORES school and staying home is driving her nuts. Cross your fingers for us...

I"m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for your family. Hope everything goes well!

Are you all ready for Kiera? It's just around the corner.

I'm so glad she is doing better. Now for the scolding-why didn't you call Cherolyn and I! We would have been so happy to bring dinners over, watch kids, clean-anything!

I am sorry. It is no fun having sick kids.
