Night Terrors

Last night was Scott's first (and hopefully last) Night Terror. This is something Dylan struggled with as a toddler and apparently Scottie is following in big bro's foot steps. It all starts with what appears to be a bad dream that you can't wake the kid out of. They just sob, and sob, and sob all while you are trying desperately to wake them up. It takes some work to get them to wake up and stop crying. The best thing I've found is to turn on a bright light and gently jiggle them. The doctor has given me no real great way to deal with this, so I was wondering if anyone out there has some good ideas? We were up from 12:00 am to 1:00 am trying to calm the poor boy down. Needless to say, we are pooped! I just feel horrible for my boy and hope he won't have these for long. It seems to be something inherited as I've had nieces and nephews who have struggled with the same thing. The bright side is that, so far, everyone has grown out of it-hopefully Scottie will do the same!!!

Poor little boy that is so sad. I have never even heard of night terrors before. I hope he grows out of them.

Oh, I hate those. Poor baby. Jane has had them. I haven't ever done it, but I've heard that when you get desperate, throw some water on their face. Brent did this to Jane the other night when she was having a freak out and said that it worked.

Thanks, Laura. Good to know!
