God Bless America!
I have always been a closet politics nerd. First thing every Sunday, I hurry and turn on Meet the Press, watch Chris Matthews, then turn the channel and watch Face The Nation (my favorite-Bob Scheiffer rocks!). I occasionally watch George Stephanopolous' show on ABC, but for some reason, he rubs me the wrong way. Anyway, watching the political arguing and finger pointing brings me such great joy. When Jesse and I were first married he just didn't understand. It drove him slightly crazy that I felt the need to watch and read about this stuff. Now I think he kinda secretly enjoys it! More than being into politics, I have a real deeply passionate love of our country. I believe (as lame as it sounds) the beginning of this love started with Stadium of Fire. My family went to this event every year while I was growing up. During the celebration, they introduce the different branches of the military and people who served in those branches stood up and everyone cheers while in the background you are hearing the Army/Navy/Air Force/Marines anthems. This touched my heart every year. Even as an annoying middle school age kid, I would have tears come to my eyes several times during the celebration. It is in that stadium that I realized what a gift I have been given to be born into such a land. As an adult, I've come to realize it so much more. The fact that this land was saved for us and declared in the scriptures as a choice land above all others brings tears to my eyes yet again. I truly love this country with all my heart and feel such pride every time I look at the flag I have flying outside my house. Tonight is historic, and the pride I feel for our country is swelling in my heart again. Even though my vote may not have been cast for the winner, I LOVE the fact I was able to cast my vote and have a voice in this awesome process!

I think what really brought you to tears at the stadium was the sight of the BYU stadium it is amazing and has that effect on me as well, especially when we are having a winning season. Just kidding, I was really grateful to have the privilege of voting and am grateful for our country.
